Job Description

    • The Senior Analyst will undertake focused sell-side research on specific business sectors (Industrials / Diversified / Mid-Caps) or undertake such research under the direction of the HOER. Mentoring and Training of junior staff will also be an integral part of the senior analyst’s role.
    • Assist the HOER in preparing an annual workplan and budget for the operation of the Equity research Business Unit. 
    • Develop a thorough understanding of the GCC equities market and, in particular, the sectors assigned by the HOER within specific target markets.
    • Conduct institutional client focused sell-side research on companies within the assigned sectors.
    • In collaboration with the HOER, select target companies within the sector(s) for focused investment / research initiatives. 
    • Support the creation and design of research products for the banks existing brokerage customer base.
    • Liaise with the HOER, and other colleagues within the Equity Research Unit, to ensure maximum synergy in the overall operations of the unit, particularly in the development of investment ideas / products.
    • As directed by the HOER, liaise with other units within NCBC (Investment Banking, Asset Management, Investment Services, Product Development, etc.) regarding any specific assignments.
    • Participate in, and contribute to, product development, research events, road shows, strategy and theme-based research projects. 
    • Participate in client servicing, presentations, seminars, information fora and one-on-one client meetings. 
    • Provide training, advice and mentoring to any direct reports and the team in general and assist the HOER in the preparation of performance measurement criteria (including KPIs) for all direct reports.
    • Participate in the implementation of systems to measure the performance of the Analysts and in assisting them to improve performance through mentoring and coaching.
    • Undertake any ad hoc projects as directed by the HOER. 
    Skills and Qualifications:
    • The Senior Analyst will have, as a minimum, a tertiary qualification from an internationally recognized institution.  Ideally he will also have an MBA and/or a CFA qualification. 
    • He will also have at least 3 years equity research experience in the investment banking or related industry – preferably in the GCC. 
    • He will be self confident and ambitious while also a good team player
    • He will be an excellent communicator - fluent in written and oral English and preferably in Arabic also.
    • He will be able to work with a wide variety of colleagues at different levels of seniority both within the Equity Research Unit and throughout NCBC as a whole.
    • He will have a probing mind combined with a results-orientated attitude.
    • He will have excellent training, mentoring and motivational skills and be anxious to get the most out of any direct reports and to optimise their career opportunities within NCBC.
    • He will be hard working, well organised, analytical and highly disciplined and able to work well under pressure.
    • He will be familiar with research platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters and Zawya.
    • He will have excellent spreadsheet and modeling skills.
    • Must be prepared to travel within the GCC region (and internationally) as required.
    • He will preferably have international work experience and must have exposure to international research best practices.
