Job Description

    • Monitor, Track, and Report on all job or errors.
    • Maintain and monitor all enterprise schedules, investigating and repairing errors.
    • Update and maintain monitoring tools.
    • Create, update, and maintain run and recovery procedures.
    • Appropriately escalate any error/issue that progresses beyond first-level support.
    • Participate in business continuity exercises.
    • Work in shift rotation environment where working hours and weekends are non-standard.  
    • Runs applications processing batches and close-of-business procedures.
    • Improve process and tools to automate operational tasks (i.e. monitoring application components) to improve efficiency and consistency. 
    • Act as liaison with Infrastructure, Command Center and Application teams to enhance monitoring and identify recurring issues, maintaining ownership through problem resolution.
    • Provide triage and remediation to monitoring alerts.
    • Operates the computer systems and any associated equipment.
    • Maintains registers to record all documents received in the Data Centre and all output / results dispatched.
    • Ensures activities of all subordinates are carried out efficiently.
    • Controls the library of Magnetic Media, ensures it is in secure, reliable and always available.
    • Organizes and controls the backup and security of files and information.
    • Controls all media and stationery stocks used in the Data Centre.
    • Diagnoses abnormal situations and reports all occurrences, which are not routine, matters to Data Centre Manager and Heads.
    • Monitors the operation of the network regularly and, where necessary, takes corrective action by informing respective teams.
    • Arranges for recovery or restart procedures to be carried out and inform remote sites as necessary.
    • Ensure the awareness of equipment and systems troubleshooting.
    • Arrange installation and relocation of hardware equipment.
    • Ensure the End of Day Processing for all Branches accomplished successfully.
    • Ensure that system replications are normally operational and report failures.
    • Handle the disaster recovery restoration for the backup at Recovery Site (LRS) on respective servers.
    • Ensure Daily/Weekly/Monthly checklists and shift registers activities are followed and accomplished by the end of the day and report any item not achieved.
    • Handles the daily file transmission to / from branches and recovery Site.
    • Assists Data Centre Manager with the preparation of DC and IT Operations reports / statistics.
    • Liaises frequently with Data Centre Manager and Heads and reports immediately any matter requiring his attention.
    • Ensures a high standard of Data Centre appearance, safety, security, and functional purpose.
    • Trains and assesses subordinates.
    • Applies discipline and procedures.
    • Ensures that users are kept well informed, in advance, of any problem or delay, which effect their results or working arrangements.
    • Maintains close relationship with users of the Data Centre Service to ensure their needs are being effectively catered for.
    • Meet and exceed all established KPI’s and SLA’s as directed by the company and customers.
    • Maintain and keep an inventory of equipment installed in Data Centre.
    • Maintain records and drawing schematics of the Data Centre detailing installed equipment.
    • Work with business and application teams to extract requirements and propose appropriate backup solutions and standards.
    • Create and maintain optimal backup, restore and redundancy solutions for business-critical data.
    • Perform capacity planning and performance tuning as it relates to the backup infrastructure.
    • Performs backup environment system tuning including monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing performance.
    • Proactively oversees resolution of backup/recovery service disruptions and implementation of preventative measures.
    • Pursues any other related activities as directed by his superiors.
    Skills and Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or a related field.
    • Control-M certifications is a plus
    • NetWorker certifications is a plus
    • Minimum 6 years of related experience
    • Understanding of Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems
    • Demonstrated knowledge of IT Operations processes and procedures 
    • General awareness of IT Infrastructure technologies, topologies and protocols including servers, storage, backup, networks etc.
    • Exposure to operations of backup software, Networker is a plus
    • Highly motivated with the team leadership. 
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken with the ability to interact with the team
    • Fluent in English (both verbal and written) 
    • Understanding of scheduling systems, Control-M is a plus
    • Familiarity with different monitoring tools, SCOM and SolarWinds is a plus
